Trio Micheletti


Trio Micheletti was recently awarded the Grand Prize at the “2009 Competition in the Performance of Music from Spain and Latin America”. The members include Canadian violinist Véronique Mathieu, Brazilian cellist André Micheletti, and Japanese pianist Jasmin Arakawa. The musicians of Trio Micheletti met at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music while pursuing their Doctor of Music degrees in performance, and have received guidance from musicians such as Emile Naoumoff, Mark Kaplan, Helga Winold, and Alfredo Minetti. Trio Micheletti has recently recorded works by Turina and Piazzolla for a CD sponsored by the Embassy of Spain. The trio has performed in California, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and has upcoming engagements in Canada, and the United States.

From June 28th until July 4th 2010, André and Véronique will be teaching and performing in Brazil during the Festival de Música Clássica de São José do Rio Preto.












                           A native of Japan, Jasmin Arakawa is a charismatic and versatile pianist. Since her solo debut with orchestra at age 16, she  

                           has performed in the USA, Canada, France, Holland, Italy, Switzerland, and Japan. Jasmin’s special interest in Spanish

                           repertoire grew out of a series of lessons with Alicia de Larrocha in 2004. An avid chamber musician, Jasmin has performed

                           extensively in Europe and North America, and has collaborated with artists such as cellist Gary Hoffman, and flutist Tara

                           O’Connor. A keen interpreter of art songs, Jasmin is in high demand as a collaborative pianist, and regularly performs in vocal recitals. Jasmin holds degrees from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, and Indiana University.  She has received awards and scholarships from HIMES Foundation (Japan), and the Indianapolis Matinee Musicale. Jasmin is currently completing a doctoral degree at Indiana University where she studies with Emile Naoumoff.

                                         

 

Born in Brazil, cellist André Micheletti received degrees from UNICAMP (Brazil), Northwestern University, and is currently completing his Doctorate at Indiana University in Cello and Baroque Cello performance under the guidance of  Helga Winold, Stanley Ritchie, and Nigel North. He performed in master classes for musicians such as Antonio Del Claro, Hans Jensen, Janos Starker, Emilio Colon, Frans Helmerson, Hidemi Suzuki, Antonio Menezes, Wieland Kujken, John Holloway, and Christopher Hogwood. Mr. Micheletti held positions as assistant principal cello of the Sao Paulo Theater Symphony Orchestra, principal cello of the Camerata Fukuda, and principal cello  of the UNESP Chamber Orchestra. André is a First Prize winner of the “Concursos Estímulo aos Jovens Solistas do Brasil”, and the “Concurso Jovens Intrumentistas do Brasil”.  He served as faculty at the Tom Jobim Center in Sao Paulo, as well as in music festivals throughout Brazil. Mr. Micheletti frequently performs concerts in Brazil, Argentina, and the United States. He was recently appointed professor of cello at UNICAMP (University of Campinas), in São Paulo.

                            Canadian violinist Véronique Mathieu has performed as soloist and chamber musician in Austria, Canada, Costa Rica,

                           Denmark, France, Switzerland, and the United States. She is currently the Concertmaster of the Columbus Indiana

                           Philharmonic, and regularly performs with the Montreal Contemporary Ensemble, and the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra in

                           Texas. She is an avid contemporary music performer, and has premiered many works by American and Canadian composers.

                           Véronique holds degrees from the Conservatoire de Musique de Québec, McGill University, and Indiana University. She is

                           currently completing her Doctorate in violin performance under the guidance of Mark Kaplan at the  Indiana University

                           Jacobs School of Music, where she previously earned a Master’s degree and a Performer Diploma as a student of Miriam

                           Fried. Véronique wishes to thank the Canada Council for the Arts for its generous support through the  loan of the 1715
